Who we are

EchoScript is a long-form audio and video transcription service operated by EchoScript Labs (“EchoScript”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the data we handle when you use the service.

/ 02

Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account data. When you sign up, our authentication provider handles your registration and login and stores your account details (such as your email address and profile information). Each of your transcriptions is linked to your account.
  • The links you submit. The source link of the audio or video you want transcribed.
  • Transcripts and their details. The transcript text produced from your source, along with a title you give it, the detected language, the duration, the word count, its status, and the dates it was created and updated.
  • Usage and performance data. Privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics about how the site is used and how it performs.

We don’t ask for payment card details, and we don’t collect more than what’s listed here to operate EchoScript.

/ 03

How we use your data

We use the data above to:

  • create and secure your account and sign you in;
  • transcribe the source you submit and store the result so you can read, edit, copy, and export it;
  • show your transcription library, status, and usage within your account;
  • keep the service reliable and improve its performance through aggregate analytics.
/ 04

How your data flows

EchoScript relies on a small set of trusted providers. Here’s where your data goes and why:

  • An authentication provider — stores your account and handles sign-in.
  • A speech-to-text service — receives the source you submit, transcribes it, and returns the transcript text to us. Your source is shared only to produce your transcript.
  • A hosting and infrastructure provider — runs the service, securely stores your transcriptions and their details linked to your account, and provides the usage and performance analytics described above.

We don’t sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising. These providers process data only to deliver the service, under their own privacy terms.

/ 05

Data retention

We keep your transcriptions and their details for as long as your account exists or until you delete them. When you delete a transcription, it is removed from your account. Account data is retained by our authentication provider for as long as you have an account.

/ 06

Your rights

You stay in control of your data. You can:

  • view and edit any transcript in your account;
  • export your transcripts (copy the text or download a document file);
  • delete individual transcriptions at any time;
  • request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We’ll honour valid requests to the extent the law requires.

/ 07

Security

We rely on established providers and on measures such as authenticated access and secure, verified connections between the services we use to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

/ 08

Children

EchoScript is not directed at children, and you must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use it. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

/ 09

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
