What EchoScript is
EchoScript (“EchoScript”, “we”, “us”) is a web service that transcribes audio and video into text. You provide a link to an audio or video file, we transcribe it on your behalf using a speech-to-text service, and we keep the resulting transcript in your account so you can read, edit, copy, and export it.
The service is operated by EchoScript Labs. These terms form an agreement between you and EchoScript Labs.
Your account
You need an account to use EchoScript. Accounts and sign-in are handled through a trusted authentication provider. You are responsible for the information you provide when registering and for keeping your login credentials secure.
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use EchoScript. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
Acceptable use
You may only submit content that you own or are otherwise authorized to transcribe. By submitting a link, you confirm that you have the rights and any necessary permissions or consents to have that audio or video transcribed.
You agree not to use EchoScript to:
- transcribe content you have no right to use, or that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights;
- process recordings of people who have not consented to being recorded where their consent is legally required;
- submit unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, or use the output for unlawful purposes;
- attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service;
- resell or redistribute the service in a way that abuses it or circumvents usage limits.
Your content and transcripts
You keep ownership of the source links you submit and of the transcripts produced from them. We don’t claim ownership of your content.
You grant us the limited permission needed to operate the service: to process your source through a speech-to-text service, to generate a transcript, and to store, display, and let you export that transcript within your account. You can edit a transcript at any time, and deleting a transcription removes it from your account.
Third-party services
EchoScript depends on a small set of trusted third-party providers to function. When you use the service, the relevant data is processed by:
- an authentication provider — accounts and sign-in;
- a speech-to-text service — transcription of the source you submit;
- a hosting and infrastructure provider — running the service, securely storing your transcriptions, and providing privacy-friendly usage and performance analytics.
Your use of these features is also subject to those providers’ own terms. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.
Usage limits and plans
EchoScript supports source files up to roughly ten hours in length and may apply limits on how much you can transcribe within a given period. Limits, any free allowance, and any paid plans may change as the service evolves. We’ll make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes that affect you.
Service availability
We work to keep EchoScript reliable, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. Transcription quality depends on the source audio and on our third-party provider, and we can’t guarantee perfect accuracy, uninterrupted availability, or that the service will be error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EchoScript Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the service. The service is provided without warranties of any kind except where the law requires otherwise.
Termination
You can stop using EchoScript and delete your transcriptions at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that harms it or other users. On termination, your right to use the service ends; you can request deletion of your remaining data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use EchoScript after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
